Artists are said to express themselves through their art. In my case, the events happening in our global society are the starting point for new visual art proposals. There is not one single subject matter in my works—any news that affect me can trigger my next artwork. Thus, the conceptual unity of my work arises from a certain way of viewing the world around me.
My technical background is graphic art. This has led me to a permanent dialogue with paper, which is not just a supporting material but features as the main component to the work of art. In fact, although my creative urge materializes through different techniques, I always come back to paper. Its inherent metaphorical and conceptual properties help me to express issues I am concerned with, such as fragility, levity and the ephemeral. Curiously enough, these notions are also present in the shadow cast by objects, which has been a plastic resource of mine along the years.
Above all, with a limited use of colour, I endeavour to create artwork which is not explicit, which is shrouded in mystery, with a certain degree of irony, inviting a multiplicity of readings in a way that, instead of providing answers, raises new questions for the observer.
